Wood Enterprises

Brisbane, Australia

Company Background
Wood Enterprises is a long-established electrical industry manufacturer’s agent, founded around 40 years ago by Robert Wood. The company employs 22 staff and represents leading brands across air conditioning, brown goods, white goods, and a commercial range. More recently, they added the Queensland servicing division for the sought-after brand Smeg to their growing list of achievements.

Background
Renowned for their service, integrity, and client commitment, Wood Enterprises has built a reputation in the industry as the go-to experts — “if you don’t know where to go; call Wood.”

As the business expanded into new brands and product lines, the existing accounting and IT systems struggled to keep pace. The company needed a modern, flexible solution to support rapid growth, manage increased warehousing needs, and streamline tracking and servicing operations.

Samantha Wood, from Administration, recalls: “Our systems were simply no longer adequate. We needed something flexible and user friendly that could give us better control over inventory, warehousing, invoicing, deliveries, and quoting.”

Partnering with ABC Business Solutions and MYOB AccountRight & Ostendo
After researching solutions, Wood Enterprises chose MYOB AccountRight integrated with Ostendo — a powerful combination recommended by several of their partner brands. The company discovered ABC Business Solutions online and were immediately impressed by the expertise and responsiveness of Carol Roberts.

“The service offered, price, and Carol’s vast knowledge gave the impression that ABC was very proficient and really understood what I was looking for,” says Samantha.

ABC Business Solutions handled the installation, setup, and full customisation of both systems, providing:

  • Seamless integration between MYOB AccountRight and Ostendo

  • Custom invoicing forms and reporting templates

  • Stock level and stock code management tools

  • Remote installation and user setup for all end users

“The process was simple. The technology was installed, it worked, and any adaptations were fixed almost immediately. ABC was readily available and all the staff were terrific — they get back to you when they say they will, and for me, that’s a big thing.”

Training and implementation were smooth, with staff confident using the system within hours.

“They don’t confuse you with technical jargon — they use real terms. Their follow-through and follow-up are excellent, which is often missing in other technical consultants.”

Future Directions
Wood Enterprises continues to grow and diversify, particularly into project-based work supplying developers with complete product packages for residential apartment blocks. The company is strengthening its relationships with architects, property developers, and new brands to maintain its reputation for service excellence.

Thanks to ABC Business Solutions, MYOB AccountRight, and Ostendo, Wood Enterprises has:

  • Centralised warehousing into one efficient department

  • Simplified data entry, allowing for additional staff and improved security controls

  • Freed key personnel to focus on strategic, higher-level responsibilities

ABC Business Solutions continues to provide ongoing support, customisation, and troubleshooting.

“We see the relationship with ABC as a business partnership — they’ll be there beside us, helping us to meet our goals.” — Samantha Wood, Administration

BRISBANE REFINISH SUPPLIES PTY LTD

Archerfield, Brisbane, Australia

Company Background
Brisbane Refinish Supplies is one of Australia’s largest independent distributors of automotive refinish products in the collision repair market. The business was originally established in 1981 as Bryant Byrt Ford, later evolving into Bryant Byrt Ford Refinish in 1987, before becoming Brisbane Refinish Supplies in 1991.

Over the decades, the company has built a strong reputation as a proactive industry leader and trusted supplier of top-quality automotive refinish products. Their long-standing relationships with the world’s best manufacturers ensure customers’ needs are met with precision and reliability.

Today, Brisbane Refinish Supplies operates from three distribution outlets — Archerfield, Virginia, and Kunda Park — servicing customers across South East Queensland. Following the devastating 2010–2011 floods, the company rebuilt stronger than ever, continuing to grow and expand into new markets.

Background
When the software system they were using became unsupported, Gordon Barclay, Business Owner, turned to Carol Roberts from ABC Business Solutions for guidance. The business required a robust yet simple solution that could handle general accounting, stock control, point of sale, and payroll across multiple sites.

Brisbane Refinish Supplies implemented MYOB EXO Business alongside Wage Easy Payroll, providing them with the flexibility and functionality needed to operate efficiently across all three locations.

“The business must be able to adapt as changes happen quickly and issues such as the GFC have a knock-on effect. Changes must be made or you don’t stay in business,” says Gordon.

Partnering with ABC Business Solutions, MYOB EXO Business, and Wage Easy
Having worked with Carol previously — when she set up his first MYOB file in the 1990s — Gordon was confident that ABC Business Solutions’ accounting expertise and deep understanding of business operations would deliver the right outcome.

“Both Carol and ABC were able to understand the requirements and idiosyncrasies of the company. They get on the right page with us — we left the accounting to ABC so we can concentrate on what we do best.”

ABC Business Solutions continues to provide monthly onsite support, including BAS preparation, ongoing training, and tailored reporting.

“We keep a list of queries to go through at each visit,” says Gordon.

Custom reports developed by ABC include:

  • Stock Min/Max reports for better inventory management

  • A challenging Stock by Weight report, written specifically to suit their unique needs

Gordon adds: “When training starts, there’s a huge amount of information to absorb. It needs to be broken up into smaller portions over several weeks, so it can be absorbed properly — followed by a lot of questions.”

Future Directions
Brisbane Refinish Supplies continues to set and achieve both short- and long-term goals, expanding into aviation, agriculture, industrial, and mining markets. Their dedicated sales representatives play a key role in driving growth and maintaining strong customer relationships.
